Our Story

Hi! My name is Connor Davison, founder of Eight Hours, and I’d like to thank you for being here.

As a young guy in my 20s, like many others I struggled with poor sleep: waking up multiple times a night, dragging through fog-filled days, and feeling like my energy was stuck in neutral no matter how hard I pushed.

Every morning, I woke up exhausted despite hitting the pillow early. During long workdays, I’d fight to stay sharp. I felt frustrated and unfulfilled, always chasing the next workout or coffee just to feel normal.

With the blue light from screens and city lights invading my evenings, I couldn’t wind down—my mind raced, and recovery felt impossible.

One month of broken sleep left me irritable and underperforming. I remember lying awake, staring at the ceiling, pleading for my body to reset, and booking every sleep gadget under the sun.

Worst of all, every evening exposure to artificial light triggered that wired-but-tired cycle, bloating my schedule with inefficiency and killing my gains. It was uncomfortable, draining, and held me back from the adventures that light up my life.

That fire drove me to months of researching sleep science, tracking my temp, HRV, and light exposure with my Apple Watch.

I tried everything one by one: air quality filters to scrub the room clean, strict sleep plans and routines, air quality readers obsessively tracking VOCs and particulates, blacking out every single light source in my bedroom with heavy curtains and tape, even Ayurvedic herbs and protocols for deeper rest and more.

Traditional advice didn’t help because it only tweaks habits on the surface, NOT the root cause of cellular recovery.

Then, I learned about mitochondria, the engines in our cells that power everything from muscle repair to mental clarity (just like a high-performance engine needs the right fuel and conditions to run at peak).

It turned out that these mitochondria are controlled by LIGHT—and disrupting our circadian rhythm with evening blue light harms them, throwing off sleep repair, melatonin production, and next-day energy.

I discovered that to thrive, mitochondria crave natural sunlight during the day (to align circadian rhythms and boost alertness) and absolute darkness at night for repair, deeper sleep stages, better HRV recovery, and stable body temperature drops.

In the same way, if our mitochondria aren’t optimized by proper light cycles, no amount of strict training, supplements, air purifiers, blackout setups, or diets will fully restore energy—this was my exact roadblock! No matter how disciplined my routine or stacked my stack, true recovery evaded me.

After introducing blue light blocking products into my home and other wellbeing products, I finally realigned my circadian rhythm, unlocked profound sleep benefits like faster deep sleep onset and sustained energy, and felt driven to help others fix the modern light disruption we’re all facing.

Now it's time to transform your sleep forever.
